APOLINARIO MABINI
(1854–1903)
FILIPINO PATRIOT, NATIONALIST, STATESMAN, AND POLITICAL SCIENTIST, PRIME MINISTER AND SECRETARY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE FIRST PHILIPPINE REPUBLIC. BANISHED TO GUAM AS “THE MOST PROMINENT IRRECONCILABLE AMONG THE FILIPINOS.” HE LIVED IN A BUILDING ON THIS SITE OF ASAN, FROM FEBRUARY 1901 TO FEBRUARY 1903. WITH HIM WERE REVOLUTIONARY GENERAL ARTEMIO RECARTE, PIO DEL PILAR, MAXIMINO HIZON, AND 54 OTHER FILIPINO POLITICAL PRISONERS.
